Caron Butler: From Criminal to All-Star

October 19, 2017

To say Butler had a tough childhood would be an understatement. Butler always had the talent, even at a young age but he never embraced it.

A drug dealer at the age of 11, Butler had been arrested 15 times before his 15th birthday for minor offences. He was then sentenced to 1 year in prison for firearms and cocaine possession.

He only ended up embracing his basketball talents while serving time in a detention centre and never looked back.

Through hard work, dedication, and love for the game, he turned his life around. He became the Big East Player of Year at Connecticut, a 10th overall pick by the Miami Heat, a 2 time All Star, and NBA champion for the Dallas Mavericks.

Anyone can turn their life around with hard work and dedication and Caron Butler is a walking, breathing example of that.
